Recently the Haryana State Government recieved nearly 20 proposals from independant power producers (IPP) to set up facilities to generate power. The Haryana State Government has fixed a purchase price of between Rs 15 to Rs 16 per unit (0,25 euro per unit) depending on project commencement date. Haryana is the fourth state after Rajasthan, Punjab and West Bengal to announce tariffs for power generation through solar energy. At the heart of the attractive tariff rate is that the Indian Central Government provides generation based incentives at Rs 12/unit and Rs 10/unit sold to state distribution agencies. This seeks to increase solar power generation in India from 200 KW to 25 MW by 2010-11.
